There comes a moment on every meaningful journey when we stop asking ourselves how to become more and begin asking a different question:
Why have I ever believed I needed to become less?
Many of us are never taught to question shrinking. We simply become accustomed to it. We soften our voices so others remain comfortable. We reduce our ideas before they have an opportunity to grow. We hide our creativity because it feels safer than allowing it to be seen. We ignore our inner knowing because we have been encouraged to trust everything outside ourselves before trusting what quietly speaks within.
Over time, shrinking can begin to feel normal.
Yet creation has never demonstrated this way of living.
The stars never apologize for shining.
The oceans never become smaller because someone finds them too vast.
Mountains never lower themselves because their presence feels overwhelming.
Flowers never bloom halfway because they worry about attracting attention.
Creation continually expresses itself completely.
Perhaps one of the greatest questions we can ask ourselves is this:
If creation never shrinks its authentic expression, why should we?
That question alone can begin changing the way we see ourselves.
Not shrinking is not arrogance.
Not shrinking is not domination.
Not shrinking is not believing we are greater than anyone else.
Not shrinking is simply allowing our authentic nature to exist without unnecessary limitation.
It is choosing to occupy the space that has always belonged to us.
Many imagine confidence as something they must build, acquire, or earn.
Yet alignment reveals something very different.
Alignment is confidence.
When our inner knowing, our heart, our truth, our creativity, our wisdom, and our actions all move together, confidence naturally appears.
There is no performance.
There is no mask.
There is no need to convince anyone.
Confidence simply becomes the atmosphere created by living honestly.
This is why shrinking slowly disappears.
When every part of ourselves begins working together, there is nothing left that needs to hide.
One of the greatest gifts we possess is our authentic expression.
Truth has always desired movement.
It was never meant to remain trapped inside us.
Throughout many spiritual traditions we find different languages describing the importance of living truthfully. While symbols and teachings vary, a common thread quietly appears again and again:
Truth naturally longs to be expressed.
When we continually silence what we know to be true, our expression becomes heavier.
When truth flows freely, our expression becomes lighter.
This is why authentic expression can feel so freeing.
It is not because we suddenly become someone new.
It is because we stop carrying the weight of pretending to be someone we are not.
As truth moves more naturally through our lives, many describe experiencing a greater sense of openness within the throat chakra.
Rather than feeling blocked, restricted, or uncertain, expression begins flowing with greater clarity.
Not because we force ourselves to speak.
But because there is less separation between what we know within and what we express outwardly.
We also begin remembering something equally important.
Our solar plexus—our first intelligence, our quiet inner knowing—has been speaking long before the mind begins debating every possibility.
How often have we known something immediately...
only to spend hours, days, or even years talking ourselves away from it?
Inner knowing rarely shouts.
It whispers.
Learning to trust that quiet wisdom changes the way we move through life.
Instead of constantly asking the world for permission...
we begin recognizing the guidance already present within ourselves.
As this happens, something beautiful begins taking place within the heart as well.
The heart no longer feels responsible for carrying every fear...
every expectation...
every version of ourselves that never truly belonged to us.
Instead...
it becomes lighter.
Gentler.
Freer.
Light as a feather.
Not because life suddenly becomes effortless...
but because we stop asking the heart to carry what truth has already released.
Another question naturally follows:
What could my creativity become if I stopped reducing myself before I even begin?
Creativity was never designed to exist inside small spaces.
Ideas expand.
Music expands.
Art expands.
Wisdom expands.
Compassion expands.
Leadership expands.
Authentic expression expands.
The more honestly we live...
the more naturally our creativity begins revealing possibilities that were always present but could never fully emerge while we were shrinking ourselves.
Perhaps this is why creation itself appears endlessly creative.
It is not afraid of becoming larger.
Neither should we be.
Not shrinking also changes the way we relate to others.
When we no longer perform smaller versions of ourselves, relationships become more honest.
Conversations become more meaningful.
Decisions become clearer.
Purpose becomes easier to recognize.
We stop spending energy maintaining masks and begin investing that same energy into creating, learning, exploring, serving, and expressing what genuinely lives within us.
Harmony is not created by everyone becoming the same.
Harmony is created when every authentic expression is allowed to contribute its own unique beauty.
Every flower blooms differently.
Every river follows its own path.
Every constellation occupies its own place within the night sky.
None of them compete with one another.
They simply become themselves completely.
Perhaps we were always meant to do the same.
Not shrinking is therefore much more than confidence.
It is truth becoming visible.
It is inner knowing becoming trusted.
It is the throat expressing without unnecessary fear.
It is the heart becoming light as a feather.
It is creativity flowing without apology.
It is wisdom moving naturally into action.
It is alignment becoming the foundation from which every decision is made.
And when alignment becomes our way of living...
confidence no longer feels like something we must search for.
It quietly becomes who we are.
The world does not need smaller versions of authentic people.
Creation has never asked us to become less.
It continually demonstrates something far more beautiful.
Become fully yourself.
Then allow that truth to move freely through every thought...
every word...
every creation...
and every step of your journey.
-Reflection
-Where in my life have I accepted shrinking as normal, and what truth has been waiting patiently for me to express?
-How can I strengthen the connection between my inner knowing, my heart, my truth, my creativity, and my actions so they move together in complete alignment?
-If I truly trusted that creation never intended for me to become smaller, what would I begin creating, expressing, or sharing differently starting today?
